84-Year-Old Motorist Who Hit Reese Witherspoon To Retake DMV Driver’s License Test:

While actress Reese Witherspoon continues to recover from minor injuries caused from a traffic accident on Wednesday, the 84-year-old female Santa Monica motorist who hit the jogging Oscar winner has been ordered visit the DMV to retake a driver’s license test within the next 30 days.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning while Witherspoon was jogging in the area of 20th Street and Georgina Avenue in Santa Monica.

At 11:14 a.m., officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the area regarding a traffic collision involving a car and a female pedestrian.

The initial investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, an 84-year-old female resident of Santa Monica, was traveling southbound on 20th Street and struck a female pedestrian that was jogging westbound on Georgina Avenue at 20th Street within an unmarked crosswalk.

The pedestrian was subsequently identified as Reese Witherspoon.

Any driver, regardless of age, involved in a collision may be required to retake a driving test to show they have the adequate skills and knowledge of traffic rules to be safe on the road. The driver may also have to undergo an eye test and provide a list of any medication she takes.

Witherspoon suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. She was released several hours later.

Witherspoon declined to press charges against the 84-year-old driver who accidentally hit her, but the woman has been cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, a violation of California Vehicle Code section 21950(a).
