Samohi Wins First Game Tbe Santa Monica High baseball team lost its first three games of the season, then earned the first win for new coach Kevin Brockway. Following a 3-2 loss to Oxnard High in 10 innings the Vikings were defeated by Hueneme 3-1 and Royal 7-2. Samohi came back to win at Palisades, 5-1 in the Southern California Invitational Tournament Against Royal, Samohi fell behind 6-0 before scoring both its runs in the sixth inning. Catcher Cody Decker and third baseman Justin Cooper each drove in a run with a double. Chris Fiala was the losing pitcher. St. Monica Wins First St. Monica lost its first two games of the baseball season, then scored its first win. The Mariners lost to Hawthorne 8-6 and Beverly Hills 15-5, then defeated Grace Brethren 13-3. Brentwood Is Unbeaten Brentwood improved its baseball record to 3-0 in non-league games with an 8-3 victory over Mary Star. Malibu Victorious The Malibu High baseball team defeated Glendale, 5-0 in a non-league contest. SMC Wins In Softball The SMC softball team, which had to postpone its first scheduled game due to a shortage of players, has been bolstered by recent additions and won a non-conference game from Mission College, 11-3. Samohi Has A 3-2 Record The Santa Monica High softball team has a 3-2 record following a 2-1 loss Saturday to West Torrance. The Vikings also lost a non-conference game to North Torrance, 8-1. New Roads Earns Win New Roads won a softball game from Lawndale, 11-7 in the St. Monica Tournament. Crossroads In Volleyball Win St. Bernard High arrived with a 2-0 record but Crossroads won the non-league volleyball match, 3-2. Football Star Leaves Pali Running back Andre Harris, who was Palisades High’s rushing leader last season with 670 yards, has transferred to Taft High for his senior season.
