Although New Roads plays in a lower division and receives less recognition than other Santa Monica schools, the Jaguars have a successful athletic program.
The school did well in basketball last season and has a representative baseball team.
New Roads is off to a 3-3 start this season, the last two games resulting in impressive wins. New Roads defeated Chadwick, 3-2, then went to Clover Park to defeat Crossroads, 4-3.
The games are preparing the Jaguars for Harbor League competition.
New Roads will play Hillcrest Christian of Granada Hills Thursday at 3 p.m. at West Los Angeles College.Prior to its game against New Roads, Crossroads won a non-league game from Milken, 11-4.
