Fred Segal Santa Monica hosted a Haute Lunch and Haute Shopping event on Thursday to raise awareness about the new healthy menus served across the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Celebrities and local dignitaries attended to show support to healthy eating at LAUSD.
They sampled the nutritious cafeteria menu items introduced this school year as part of the “I’M IN” campaign.
“I’M IN” is an exciting all-inclusive program designed to raise awareness about the District’s healthy meals to help fight childhood obesity, as well as to encourage student attendance and to prevent students from dropping out.
The campaign is an invitation to the entire community to make healthy choices and to support educational proficiency for all students.
Studies show that providing nutritious, well-balanced meals are key to students’ academic success. LAUSD’s new healthy menu meets and exceeds the USDA guidelines and the Institute of Medicine’s nutrient recommendations. The District serves 650,000 meals daily at over 700 schools throughout Los Angeles.
