On Friday, Jan. 28, at 4:45 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on a routine patrol in the 1700 block of Santa Monica Boulevard when they saw two men walking into, then out of, Alley 17.
These men did this a number of times for no apparent reason whatsoever. The officers then noticed that the men were smoking marijuana, therefore “stoned,” and thus explaining their utterly pointless behavior. The officers approached these “stoners” and asked them if they would mind if the officers searched them.
As one would expect these two agreed, and the officers searched them and found that one of these suspects was in possession of a spring-loaded window punch. Criminals often carry this type of device as a burglary tool, suggesting that this marijuana smoking person could be a burglar.
The officers asked this suspect if he could give a valid reason for having this device (“er, what man, er, hey man…etc.”), and not surprisingly he couldn’t. The officers arrested this 19-year-old resident of an unknown place, and he was charged with possession of burglary tools. Bail was set at $500.
