Walter Mosley, one of America’s leading writers, will read from his new book Little Scarlet, chosen as the 2005 One Book, One City featured novel, on Monday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in the 826LA space located in the SPARC Building in Venice.
Mosley is the author of 19 books. His works have been translated into 21 languages. His popular mysteries, featuring Easy Rawlins, began with Devil in a Blue Dress in 1990. Other books in the series include A Red Death, White Butterfly, Black Betty and A Little Yellow Dog.
Among his other books are Bad Boy Brawley Brown and Six Easy Pieces.
The One Book/One City L.A. reading program began in 2002, with Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. It was followed in 2003 with Sandra Cisneros’ House on Mango Street and Laura Hillenbrand’s Seabiscuit in 2004.
Mosley’s Little Scarlet is set in the aftermath of the Watts riots and turns on Easy Rawlins’ effort to solve a mysterious death in South Los Angeles.
