Heal The Bay Clean-Ups Set:

Heal the Bay is marking Earth Day with a series of waterway clean-ups and family activities.

Venice Beach will be scoured from 10 a.m. to noon, this Saturday. On Saturday, April 23, volunteers will work from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Malibu Creek State Park, to restore the native plant life that protects the creek bed. On Saturday, April 30, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., there will be a clean-up at Compton Creek behind the Crystal Park Casino, 123 E. Artesia Boulevard. Cleaning up the creek is part of a $13 million Compton restoration project.

On two weekends, April 16th and 17th, 23rd and 24th, Heal the Bay will present a special family-oriented Earth Month program at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium from 12:30 to 6 p.m.For details on volunteering for the Compton Creek cleanup or any of Heal the Bay’s Earth Day activities, call (800) HEAL-BAY ext 122.
