Paranoia Pub At Santa Monica Place Serves Up Ghoulish Grub:

Zengo at Santa Monica Place is getting into the Halloween with a special happy hour menu exclusively for those braving the Paranoia Haunted Attraction Thursday through Sunday until Oct. 31 at the mall.

Maze-goers must show their wristbands were purchased the same day to receive the deals from 7 p.m. onwards on maze nights.

Located on the third floor of mall, Zengo spokeswoman Lesley Weiss said it was the restaurant’s first Halloween inspired menu.

“The kitchen and bar staff summoned their inner demons and favorite childhood haunts,” Weiss said. “The menu was created exclusively for guests of Santa Monica Place’s Paranoia Haunted Attraction to snack and share some drinks while trading stories about their adventures in the mazes.”

Weiss hoped the menu would attract new customers.

“The Paranoia Haunted Attraction is a one-of-a-kind Halloween event that will draw first timers to Santa Monica Place,” Weiss said. “These guests will wrap up their experience with fantastically priced, festive food, and drinks at the Paranoia Pub at Zengo.”

Food items are $5 to $9 and drinks are $4 to $8.

The “grub” menu has Bat Wings (chicken wings), the Blazing Inferno (beef meatballs), Wolfman’s Crispy Chicken (crispy nuggets), Mummy Wrap (mushroom wrap), Demon Belly Sliders (pork belly sliders with cucumber), Children of the Corn (charred corn off the cob), and Spud Massacre (sweet potato and yukon fries with cheese, chili sauce, and green onions).

The “booze” includes Beetle Juice (sangria), Witches Brew (cucumber mojito), Bloodsucker (Strawberry margarita), Crypt Keeper (margarita), Tru Blood (red wine), White Phantom (white wine), and the Chupacabra (Tecate beer).

Weiss said the Demon Belly Sliders were already becoming a favorite.

“Who doesn’t love slow cooked pork belly?” Weiss said. “The pork’s rich, juicy flavors are balanced by crisp, fresh cucumber and spicy kimchee. It’s a great balance of flavors and textures.

“The only thing better than Demon Belly Sliders are sliders paired with a Bloodsucker Margarita made with fresh muddled strawberries and our house made sour mix.”

Zengo is located at 395 Santa Monica Place (third floor) between Broadway and Colorado.

The Paranoia Haunted Attraction is open Thursdays through Sundays until Oct. 31 at Santa Monica Place, level three. General admission: $24, student admission: $19, VIP fast pass: $39.

The un-dead possess three uniquely terrorizing mazes: “The Infirmary,” “Insomniac Clown Playhouse,” and “Granny’s Manor of Mayhem.”
