Cops Arrest Man, 63, For Violating Restraining Order Against Ex-Girlfriend In Santa Monica: Alert Police Blotter: We Can (Not) Work It Out.

Santa Monica police arrested a 63-year-old Los Angeles man on Wednesday, Nov. 28 for violating his restraining order against his ex-girlfriend.

At 7:02 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department received a report that a man had violated a restraining order that had been taken out against him by his ex-girlfriend.

When the officers arrived at the 1400 block of 26th Street, they spoke with the female victim who told them she had left her residence at 6:40 a.m. that day and had begun her walk to work.

As she was walking, she said her ex-boyfriend, who had been parked nearby, began to walk next to her and attempted to engage her in conversation (perhaps attempting to convince her that it was all a misunderstanding, the restraining order was not necessary, and that they should get back together).

When the victim arrived at her place of business she entered and summoned the police by telephone.

While the officers were speaking with this woman other officers located the ex-boyfriend who was parked in the 2500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.

These officers detained this man without incident.

This man was charged with violating a restraining order. His bail was set at $20,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
