Get Into Shape As Part Of Active Santa Monica Week Jan. 20-28:

Keep those New Year’s resolutions for a healthier and energetic year alive during Active Santa Monica Week, which takes place this Sunday through Jan. 28.

The City of Santa Monica initiative sets out to enhance well-being through fitness, recreation, and healthy lifestyles at the Memorial Park Fitness Room and the Santa Monica Swim Center.

As part of the week, both of these City facilities will offer some terrific no cost options to help you get active.

Memorial Park Fitness Room

At Memorial Park, residents can work out for free in the Fitness Room, using LifeFitness strength training machines, hand weights, and cardio machines. Unlike most gyms, no membership is required to use the Memorial Park Fitness Room.

Entry is normally $3 per visit for residents and $4 per visit for non-residents. Four-week passes are also available at $24 for residents and $32 for non-residents. It is open Monday through Fridays from noon until 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m. The Fitness Room is located at 1401 Olympic Blvd. For age requirements and/or for additional information call Memorial Park at 310.458.2201 ex. 2020.

Santa Monica Swim Center

At the Santa Monica Swim Center these classes offer a great workout in our heated pools and are free during Active Santa Monica Week:

• Shallow Wet Water Workout: Sundays at 8:15 a.m., Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

• Deep Wet Water Workout: Sundays at 9:30 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m.

• Adult Fitness Swim – Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

The low-impact Wet Workouts integrate aerobic exercise with strength-training. All skill levels are welcome in either class however Deep Water Workout participants must be able to swim one pool length.

The Adult Fitness Swim is for those who would like to improve their technique and form, as well as develop endurance and physical fitness with the help of an expert coach.

These swim classes are normally $5 for residents/$10 for non-residents. A 10-class pass is $44 for residents/$88 for non-residents with discounted rates for seniors and students.
