Santa Monica Cops Arrest Man, 52, For Randomly Punching Commuter At Bus Stop: Alert Police Blotter: Unreasonable.

Santa Monica police arrested a 52-year-old man on Saturday, Feb. 2 after he punched a person in the face while waiting for a bus. 

At 2:45pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the area of Pico Boulevard and 17th Street after they had received a report of an assault. 

When the officers arrived they discovered several Santa Monica Fire Department personnel treating the victim, who displayed signs of facial injuries. 

The victim told the officers he knew the assailant as someone he had seen on prior occasions in the general area. 

This suspect had approached the victim as he waited at the bus stop and for no apparent reason had punched the victim in the face, causing the injuries. The assailant had then walked off. 

The officers went in search of the suspect and soon discovered him at 20th Street and Pico Boulevard. 

The victim identified the suspect as the man who had punched him, and this man was arrested and charged with battery upon a person. 

Bail was set at $20,000.
