Editor’s Note: The Fairmont Miramar is getting ready for Earth Hour this Saturday, March 23 in an effort to raise awareness for planet earth. This is the letter that will go in each guest room on Friday.
Dear Guest,
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for choosing Fairmont Miramar Hotel and Bungalows, Santa Monica as “your home away from home” while visiting Southern California.
For the fourth consecutive year, Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows will participate in Earth Hour, a global event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to raise awareness about climate change.
Tomorrow, Saturday, March 23, at 8:30 pm we ask for your participation in this world-wide initiative together with all 60 Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, as we join residents and businesses worldwide by turning off lights for “Earth Hour” and in doing so, help draw further attention to one of the world’s single largest environmental issues: Climate Change.
Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows will mark this eco-friendly event by switching off principal lighting, illuminating the lobby and guest areas with candlelight and offering glow sticks to our younger guests.
With a long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible tourism, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts is a strong supporter of WWF, participating in many of their campaigns, as well as being a member of their global Climate Savers program. For the past two decades, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts have been dedicated to preserving the places, in which we live, work and play. Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows will continue to actively support a sustainable future and a low carbon economy, understanding that ultimately, we are all in this together.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Earth Hour.
