Big Fireworks Show in Oxnard:

People who still pine for Santa Monica’s incomparable Fourth of July fireworks show over the ocean may find some solace on Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard.

Celebrating its 40th birthday, it will stage the largest Fourth of July fireworks displays in its history on Monday, July 4th.

The day kicks off with a 10K & 5K Fun Run/Walk along the water’s edge. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with the races beginning at 8 a.m. at Sunset Lane. The starting line is adjacent to the Whale’s Tail Restaurant.

The Run/Walk will be followed by a Fourth of July Parade starting at 11 a.m. Visitors can watch the parade as it travels along a new parade route onto Harbor Boulevard beginning in front of Harbor Landing Shopping Center and traveling south to the Channel Islands Yacht Club.

Activities and entertainment are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Fisherman’s Wharf and Marine Emporium Landing.The 4th of July celebration will end with a bang as the night sky explodes in a great pyrotechnic show.
