For the second year, Shakespeare Santa Monica in association with the Powerhouse Theatre Company and the Ctty of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division will present two Shakespeare plays in Miles Memorial Playhouse and on the tennis courts in Reed Park.
Shakespeare Santa Monica’s founding artistic director John Farmanesh-Bocca has assembled a company of young and established actors from both coasts to perform the plays in what he describes as a “vital, rigorous, contemporary style.”
All’s Well That Ends Well will be directed by Louis, Director of The Classical Studio, NYU/ Tisch School of the Arts, and Romeo and Juliet will be directed by Farmanesh-Bocca, a member of the faculty at NYU/ Tisch School of the Arts and Juillard Directing Fellow 03’-05’.
Shakespeare Santa Monica performs the plays in every sort of environment from tennis courts to the beach, from Miles Playhouse to Main Street to a playground at Clover Park, as it believes they are most successful when they become part of the fabric of the community.All’s Well That Ends Well opens Friday, July 14, and Romeo and Juliet opens Friday, July 21. Performances are free. However, seating is limited and reservations are highly recommended.
