Pastor David Andrew Lopez (1932-2013), former Senior Pastor of the Alpha & Omega Christian Center, passed away on Holy Thursday, March 28, 2013.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen Lopez; his son Andy Lopez and his wife, Amy; his daughter, Jaime Lopez; and his son Dennis Lopez.
Pastor Dave was the founder of what is now Alpha and Omega Christian Center in Culver City and began Faith House Ministries there in 1978. He was an active member of the local Optimists Club, served as chaplain for the Culver City Fire Department, and spent many treasured years as spiritual mentor to the West L.A. Community College football team.
He served the West Side for more than 30 years, offering dignity and kindness to all in need through food outreach programs and faith leadership to the community.
He loved living beside the avocado trees and the ocean and was a fisher of men.
A memorial picnic to celebrate his life and work will be held Saturday, April 13, to share food, memories, and love among all of those he touched with his kindness, joy and faith.
