SMC Photographer Amy Gaskin Named Student Photographer Of The Year:

Santa Monica College student Amy Gaskin recieves a $1

The Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles on Saturday awarded Santa Monica College student newspaper Corsair photographer Amy Gaskin as student photographer of the year.

The award comes with $1,000 cash prize and a Nikon camera.

Former Corsair photographer and SMC student Michael Yanow won second place. Yanow was last year’s PPAGLA student photographer of the year.

Gaskin’s award was presented at a ceremony at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City on Saturday evening, March 30.

PPAGLA is a 77-year-old professional organization of still and video photojournalists who work at newspapers, television stations, wire services, national news, and sports publications throughout Southern California.
