Christmas In September Benefit Is Slated:

The Santa Monica Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary will hold its annual Christmas in September fashion show-luncheon on Thursday, September 1, at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica.

Jewelry, gift items and other specialty boutiques will open at 11 a.m., and luncheon will be served at noon.

The event benefits programs for children of needy families, including the distribution of new toys during the holidays, according to Louise Gabriel, event general chair.

Once again, Stephanie Edwards, TV and radio personality, is the honorary chair and will be the commentator for the fashion show that will feature new fall fashions for men, women and children from Robinsons – May, Santa Monica Place.

Representing a variety of Westside community organizations, the models will be Dana Harris, the Irene Dunne Guild, Saint John’s Medical Center, Ann Greenspun, Rotary Club, Carroll McEachern and Joanna Woods, Santa Monica – UCLA Medical Center Auxiliary, June Peralta, Assistance League, Helen Vasak, Santa Monica Sister City, Evelyn Guerboian, Santa Monica Breakfast Club, Jean McNeil Wyner, Santa Monica Historical Society Museum, Monet Brock, YMCA – Y’s Mens and Womens Club, as well as junior models Allison and Briana Vasak.

The models will be escorted by Eddie Guerboian, representing the Santa Monica Kiwanis Club, and Lt. Frank Fabrega, Santa Monica Police Department.

Salvation Army Captains Brian & Iva West, local community corps commanding officers, will attend the event.

Music for the fashion show will be performed by Anthony Begonia.

Committee chairs include June Livingston, Edith Conovitz, Dorothy Schweder, Ellie Margaillan, Vera Norris, Joyce Garrison and Lenore Johnson.Reservations are $50 per person and may be made with Roberta de la Puente, 399-3570 or the Salvation Army office, 451-1358.
