After that stinging 19-point defeat to Mira Costa, the Santa Monica boys basketball team responded with successive wins against a couple tough opponents to conclude the Vikings’ run at the El Segundo Tournament. Mira Costa would go on to win the tournament after dispatching Crossroads in the finale.
Samohi, on the other hand, had a rather successful trip at the El Segundo Tournament, reeling off wins against Compton Centennial, El Segundo and Palos Verdes. The Vikings defeated Centennial in their first game, 51-31, before losing to the Mustangs. However, the Vikings rebound with a 72-53 win against the host team.
