Workers raised the poles to Cirque du Soleil's big top tent on Thursday. Shows begin next Friday

A team of more than 60 men and women pushed more than 100 supporting poles Thursday afternoon to raise the roof of Cirque du Soleil’s blue-and-yellow big top tent.

The traveling production of “Totem” opens to the public next Friday, Jan. 17 with performances through March 16.

Earlier in the day, the workers spent several hours pounding pegs and unfurling the canvas before the raising of the tent.

Tickets are now available online at www.cirquedusoleil.com/totem.

The Mirror will have more details about this new Cirque production in Santa Monica in next Friday’s print edition.
