Pacific Coast Highway DUI Checkpoint Nets 16 Arrests, Three For Drunk Driving:

A DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint set up Friday night in the northbound lanes of the Pacific Coast Highway (At John Tyler Drive) in Malibu netted 16 arrests, including three for drunk driving.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Malibu Lost Hills Station, conducted the checkpoint from 7 pm to 2:30 am as part of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department commitment to public safety.

This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Malibu.

The Department reported the following statistics:

— 1225 vehicles through the checkpoint

— 1039 drivers contacted at the checkpoint

— 1 driver was arrested for a felony

— 3 drivers were arrested for driving while under the influence of an alcohol

— 1 driver was arrested for driving while under the influence of a controlled substance

— 1 driver was arrested for possession of an open container

— 1 driver was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant

— 2 suspended/revoked drivers were arrested and sent to court

— 5 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court

— 2 drivers were cited for not having their license in possession and sent to court

— 2 vehicles were impounded for 30 days

— 3 vehicles were stored for one day

— 12 Drivers were given Field Sobriety Tests
