Santa Monica Homeless Man Arrested After Beating Another Man With A Stick:

Santa Monica police arrested a 50-year-old homeless man on Thursday, Feb. 20 for attacking a man with a stick.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Wilshire Boulevard on this day to a call of two people fighting with sticks.

When officers arrived they found the victim still there, but the suspect was gone.

The victim told the police that he was sitting on the sidewalk when he was approached by the suspect and asked for money.

A verbal altercation ensued that resulted in the suspect hitting the victim with a stick on his back and head.

Officers found the suspect in the 1100 block of the alley to the east of 24th Street.

The officers detained him and had the victim come to where he was being detained.

The victim positively identified him as the one that struck him.

The officers found the suspect also had the stick in his possession that he had assaulted the victim with.

The suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000.
