On Monday, September 12, a small number of Angelenos gathered in front of the Federal Building in Westwood to take part in a national “Day of Outrage” at the failure of the federal government, first, to shore up the New Orleans levees, which would have prevented the devastating flood, second, to delay going to the aid of the people on the Golf Coast for four days, and, third, to fail to provide adequate assistance to Hurricane Katrina victims. Similar demonstrations were scheduled in 50 other American cities on Monday.
