Routine Police Stop Leads To Drugs, Stolen Electronics & Weapons Bust:

A routine Santa Monica police vehicle stop for expired tags on Thursday, April 3 led to the arrest of a couple found in possession of large fixed bladed knives, a .38 caliber revolver handgun, three types of illegal drugs, and stolen electronics.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department spotted a vehicle driving with expired tags in the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Grant Street at 1:11 am on this day.

The officers stopped this vehicle in the 2000 block of Lincoln Boulevard.

As the officers were approaching the vehicle they noticed there were several people inside, and that one of the rear passengers appeared to be attempting to conceal something in a suspicious manner.

The officers asked all the occupants to vacate the vehicle and then conducted a consensual search.

The officers found two large fixed bladed knives, methamphetamine, and a key to a room at a local motel upon the person of the suspicious passenger.

They also discovered two hypodermic needles on the floor of the vehicle.

The officers discovered this man was on active probation, so they paid a visit to the motel, located in the 2100 block of Lincoln Boulevard.

When they arrived they used the key to open the door, and discovered a woman inside the room.

The officers conducted another consensual search and found several baggies containing cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin.

They also found multiple electronic devices and a .38 caliber revolver handgun that was wrapped in a pillowcase.

A computer check revealed that the electronics were taken from a recent burglary in Venice.

The female motel occupant was arrested. The officers discovered that the female was the girlfriend of the male passenger that they previously arrested.

They charged the 24-year-old woman, of Burbank, with possession of stolen property, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail was set at $20,000.

They charged the aforementioned vehicle passenger, a 28-year-old Santa Monica resident, with probation violation, possession of stolen property, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail was set at $250,000.
