Youth Well-Being Workshop On June 1:

A Youth Well-Being workshop will be held June 1 at Virginia Avenue Park and highlights the report from the Cradle to Career (SMC2C) initiative, which is a cooperative effort of the City of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica/Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD), and Santa Monica College (SMC).

Natasha Guest Kingscote will be one of our presenters. She is a Senior Administrative Analyst in the City of Santa Monica’s Community and Cultural Services Department where she works in the Human Services Division. Her presentation will include three topics: 2014 Youth Wellbeing Report Card (a brief general overview); a demonstration of the Youth Portal  – a website services finder; and, the interactive data site.

If you have a Smartphone or iPad, bring it along and learn “hands on” how to access the new interactive information site (constructive feedback will be welcome).

Those present will have an opportunity to discuss how our young people of color are doing, specific challenges they face, what’s being done about it, and what actions students, parents, and the community can take to help.

This is part of an ongoing monthly workshop series sponsored by the Committee For Racial Justice in conjunction with the African American Parent, Student, Staff Support Group (AAPSSSG), Virginia Avenue Park, and Church in Ocean Park.

The workshop is from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (potluck supper at 6 p.m. and program starting at 6:30 p.m.), on Sunday, June 1, at Virginia Avenue Park, Thelma Terry Building, 2200 Virginia Avenue, Santa Monica.

The park is served by Big Blue Bus lines #7 and #11.
