Santa Monica Resident Shot and Killed in LA:

Jesse Becerra, 24, a Santa Monica resident, was shot and killed in the early hours of Sunday morning, September 25. as he left a party on the 4900 block of 21st Street in Los Angeles.

According to police, the suspect walked up to Becerra and shot him several times with a handgun at close range, killing him. Another man suffered gunshot wounds to the buttocks and is hospitalized in stable condition.

Los Angeles Police indicate that Becerra had connections with a Santa Monica gang, though press reports state he was currently employed at a Los Angeles area counseling center that helps gang members “move away from a criminal lifestyle.”The shooting suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’7” and 125 pounds. At the time of the crime, he was wearing a pink or orange shirt with baggy pants. He is clean shaven and has short or buzz-cut hair. LAPD asks anyone with information about the crime to call Detectives Cade or Turriaga at (213) 473-0551.
