Santa Monica Police Arrest Man On Probation When Caught With Burglary Tools:

Santa Monica police arrested a 36-year-old man who was on probation on Thursday, June 12 after he was seen being up to no good in a carport area with burglary tools.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department who were on routine patrol in the 600 block of Ocean Park Boulevard chanced upon this man who was speedily exiting on foot the carport area of an apartment complex located nearby at 1:20 am on this day.

One of the officers recognized this individual from previous arrests and therefore the officers’ states of mind were immediately elevated to a greater degree of alertness.

The same officer also recalled that this person was currently on probation, and that one of the conditions of the probation was that the individual could be searched at any time according to the discretion of any police officer.

As the officers were making a u-turn they noticed that the person in question was jaywalking so they stopped him.

The officers then searched this man (after confirming that he was indeed still on probation) and discovered that inside his bag were cable-cutters – the kind typically used by bicycle thieves to cut bicycle locks.

The officers then discovered other miscellaneous tools that could be used for illicit purposes.

The officers questioned this man as to why he had been in the carport and his answers were contradictory and inconsistent.

The officers suspected that this individual was up to no good so they arrested him.

This Los Angeles resident was charged with possession of burglary tools and violation of probation. Bail was set at $10,000.
