New West Symphony Appoints Alexander Gurevich As General Manager:

The New West Symphony Board of Directors has appointed Alexander Gurevich as general manager of the New West Symphony. Effective immediately, he joins the Symphony staff led by executive director Natalia Staneva.

Gurevich was previously an artist manager at Jonathan Wentworth Associates Ltd, a leading artist management company in New York representing world-class performing artists.

His main focus was working with orchestral soloists and developing a roster of conductors for the agency.

As general manager he will be responsible for all aspects of orchestra operations and concert production, as well as general management of the symphony’s facilities.

Gurevich said it was his great pleasure to join the New West Symphony.

“I am thrilled to be a part of its exciting 20th Anniversary Season celebration, and I look forward to working with the extended Symphony family and its fantastic music director, Marcelo Lehninger,” he said.

Alexander Gurevich holds a bachelor of arts degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a master’s degree in viola performance from the University of California Santa Barbara.

He also completed advanced studies in viola performance at the University of Southern California.

Gurevich will relocate to the Los Angeles area from New York, where he currently lives with his wife and two children.

Staneva said she was delighted to welcome Gurevich to its senior management team.

“He brings extensive, valuable industry experience to our organization, both as a performer and administrator,” Staneva said.

Founded in 1995, the New West Symphony is a professional orchestra that draws its players from the rich talent pool of professional Los Angeles-area musicians.

Led by music director Marcelo Lehninger, the Symphony is the resident company of the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, and Barnum Hall in Santa Monica.

It presents six Masterpiece Series concerts annually, performing major works from the symphonic repertoire with internationally-acclaimed artists as guest soloists.

It also provides quality outreach and educational opportunities for the communities it serves through its annual Symphonic Adventures concert programs for youth, its traveling Music Van, and the New West Symphony Harmony Project of Ventura County, a year-round music and youth development program for underserved students.
