Santa Monica police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect who assaulted a woman and tried to kidnap her while she was walking to her car at the AO Apartments in Santa Monica.
SMPD Sgt. Rudy Camarena said on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at approximately 5:45 pm a female resident of 2200 Colorado Avenue was assaulted by an unknown suspect while walking to her car in the parking garage.
Camarena said the victim was able to fight off the suspect who ran away and out of view.
The suspect is described as a while male aged late 30’s to early 40’s, approximately 5’8” with a thin build, black shirt, black baggy pants, black baseball style cap, black sunglasses and wearing a black backpack.
Camarena said the victim described the suspect’s face as “thin” and having a “pointy” chin and nose.
He said residents are reminded to be vigilant about their surroundings in and around their cars and parking garages.
