Santa Monica Public Library Presents Orbiting Ray Bradbury’s Mars:

Santa Monica Public Library welcomes Gloria McMillan for the lecture Orbiting Ray Bradbury’s Mars on Wednesday, July 30 at 7 p.m. in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.

With over five hundred published works, author Ray Bradbury’s creativity was boundless and his impact far-reaching.

Author and educator Gloria McMillan takes a unique interdisciplinary perspective on Bradbury’s life in her new essay collection, Orbiting Ray Bradbury’s Mars.

In this presentation, McMillan explores the diverse influence of this master storyteller on literature, science, media and social issues. A book sale and signing follows the program.

Gloria McMillan has a PhD in English and teaches at Pima Community College and The University of Arizona, where she developed science fiction-oriented curricula for composition classes.

McMillan is currently guest curator of a Special Collections exhibition on Ray Bradbury titled “Mars Madness” at The University of Arizona.

This event is part of the library’s Adult Summer Reading campaign, under the theme of Literary Elements.
