72-Hour PCH Lane Closure At Morning View Drive Begins Tuesday:

The City of Malibu is scheduled to close the Northbound No. 2 lane of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) this Tuesday, Aug. 12 on both sides of the Morning View Drive intersection as part of the City’s ongoing PCH Bike Route Improvements Project.

The lane closure will be continuous and is scheduled to last approximately 72 hours.

All travel lanes are anticipated to be open for the traveling public by early morning on Friday, Aug. 15. Motorists are advised to use Busch Drive or Guernsey Avenue to access Morning View Drive and the surrounding streets.

Work on the first phase of the PCH Bike Route Improvements Project at the intersection of Morning View Drive and PCH began on July 7 and is anticipated to last until Aug. 19, 2014, when school is scheduled to resume.

Improvements to the PCH/Morning View Drive intersection include the construction of a northbound right turn lane, traffic signal modifications, bus stop relocation, paving, striping, improvements to the bike route, drainage, and sidewalk work.

Together these improvements will serve to improve the flow of traffic at this intersection.

The second phase of the PCH Bike Route Improvements Project includes intersection improvements at PCH and Trancas Canyon Road, the installation of a bike lane and shoulder work improvements on the ocean side of the highway in the Zuma Beach area, and signage and striping improvements to the existing bike route on PCH between Busch Drive and the western City limits.

The Phase II work is scheduled to begin after Labor Day and is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2014.

Funding for this project has been provided by Metro, a grant from the federal Highway Safety Improvements Program, and the City of Malibu.
