“Guardians Of The Galaxy” Reclaims Top Of Box Office, Crosses $250 Million In Sales:

Guardians Of The Galaxy reclaimed the number one position at the North American box office derby, and also became the biggest movie of the summer as it crossed the $250 million sales line today.

In its fourth week of exhibition, “Guardians” is expected to take in $17.6 million this weekend, passing the remake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That film fell to second, with an estimated $16.8 million in its third weekend.

A female-centric drama, If I Stay, debuted in third place with a projected $16.4 million gate, according to studio estimates tracked by Rentrak.

Let’s Be Cops dropped to fourth place with an $11 million estimate.

A faith-based sports drama called When The Game Stands Tall opened in fifth with a $9.1 million estimate.

Rounding out the 10 most popular films this weekend, in the United States and Canada, as estimated by the studios and collated by Rentrak, were The Giver ($6.7 million), The Expendables 3 ($6.6 million), Frank Miller’s Sin City Dame To Kill For (debuting with $6.5 million), Hundred-Foot Journey ($5.6 million) and Into The Storm ($3.8 million).
