Santa Monica Outreach Group Mourn Loss Of Volunteer, Ask For Donations:

A Santa Monica-based homeless outreach group asked for donations today in the name of a volunteer who was fatally injured in an accident Friday.

Janet Kathleen Watson Lilliott, 62, was hit by a truck in a parking lot off the 2000 block of Ocean Avenue, according to Santa Monica police Sgt. Rudy Camarena.

Lilliott, known as Janet Watson, was a volunteer with West Coast Care.

“The fund is named in honor of Janet Watson, our dearest friend, homeless advocate and outreach volunteer,” said Ron Hooks, executive director of West Coast Care. “Her passion was to help the homeless transition off the streets by seeing them reunited with their families. Seven days a week she would go to WCC’s meeting spot on the Santa Monica Pier to offer assistance to all who were in need.”

Contributions to the memorial fund can be sent to West Coast Care, 1223 Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 865, Santa Monica, CA 90403.
