Authorities Search For Santa Monica Pier Jumper Sunday Night:

Santa Monica police and Los Angeles County lifeguards searched around Santa Monica Pier for about an hour in response to a report that someone had jumped into the ocean, but then concluded that the jumper got out of the water unaided, authorities said today.

The search began around 11 p.m. Sunday when witnesses reported having seen someone jump into the water and ended at about midnight.

Santa Monica police Sgt. R. Villegas said no one was found in the water.

“Our investigation led us to believe the subject walked out of the water,” Villegas said.
