Los Angeles Kings Defenseman Slava Voynov Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge:

Los Angeles Kings player Slava Voynov was arrested this morning on suspicion of domestic violence and was suspended indefinitely by the National Hockey League.

Voynov, a defenseman, was arrested for a violation of California Penal Code section 273.5, which pertains to domestic violence, according to the National Hockey League.

He reportedly was arrested by Manhattan Beach police, but the Manhattan Beach Police Department did not immediately comment.

According to the NHL, Voynov’s paid suspension was imposed under a section of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The agreement “provides that, during the pendency of a criminal investigation, ‘the league may suspend the player pending the league’s formal review and disposition of the matter where the failure to suspend the player during this period would create a substantial risk of material harm to the legitimate interests and/or reputation of the league,'” the NHL reported.

The 24-year-old Voynov is from Chelyabinsk, Russia.
