A colorful change is coming to Upper West in Santa Monica this weekend with the arrival of new art being hung on its walls.

The restaurant at 3321 Pico Boulevard features a different artist’s work every three to four months – a tradition dating back almost three years.

Art photographer Erich Koyoma will install his pieces this Sunday, Oct. 26 with an opening reception later in the day from 4-7 pm, which is free and open to the public.

The Santa Monica resident said he would be showing about a dozen images that were created mostly during the past year except a couple that were created about three years ago.

“The work was inspired by abstract expressionist artists and dancers of the Los Angeles Ballet,” Koyoma said. “The work is a photo collage created on the computer after photographing in a studio and making giclee prints myself.”

Koyoma said the Upper West exhibition will be his first public showing.

“I work as a commercial photographer specializing in Architecture Interiors and Art,” Koyoma said.

Upper West is located at 3321 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica. It is open for lunch from 11:30 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday and open for dinner seven days a week from 5 pm.
