Santa Monica Resident Arrested After Kicking Woman In The Head In Park:

A 30-year-old Santa Monica resident was arrested on Saturday, Oct. 18 after kicking a woman in the head for no apparent reason.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 2900 block of Barnard Way at 10:14 pm on this day in order to investigate a report of aggravated assault.

Upon arrival the officers spoke with the female victim who told them that she had been taking a nap in the park when she had been suddenly woken up by music emanating from the suspect’s cell phone.

The victim told the officers that she had asked this man to leave her alone and the suspect had responded to that request by systematically kicking the victim about the head and face.

The victim then told the officers that she had yelled for help and at that moment the suspect had fled the scene, but had been spotted by nearby witnesses.

These witnesses provided valuable information that allowed the officers to locate the suspect a short while later.

The officers spoke with this suspect and immediately noticed that he appeared to be displaying the subjective symptoms of alcohol intoxication.

The officers thus arrested this local resident and he was charged with aggravated assault. Bail was set at $30,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
