Beverly Hills Clinic Sued Over Alleged Eye Injury During Surgery:

An actress and her husband on Tuesday sued a Beverly Hills ophthalmology clinic where she alleges her right eye was injured due to medical negligence.

Pamela Susan Shoop and her spouse, Terrance Sweeney, filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against the Beverly Hills Institute of Opthamology and Dr. John D. Hofbauer, a cataract surgery specialist.

Sweeney alleges loss of consortium. The couple seeks unspecified damages.

A representative for the clinic could not be immediately reached for comment on the suit, which states that the 66-year-old actress was a patient at the facility from 1996 until 2013. The complaint does not state the precise nature of the eye injury she allegedly suffered.

Shoop portrayed the character Allison MacKenzie in the 1970s television series “Return to Peyton Place”; made guest appearances on such series as “The Mod Squad,” “The Incredible Hulk” and “Murder, She Wrote”; and played a nurse in the 1981 horror film “Halloween II.”

She and her husband, a former Jesuit priest, co-wrote a book titled “What God Hath Joined.”
