Bail Set At $50,000 For Santa Monica Man Who Slapped Girlfriend In Face:

Latest police, crime and courts news.

Bail was set at $50,000 for a young Santa Monica man on Saturday, Dec. 20, after slapping his girlfriend in the face.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were dispatched to the area of Seventh Street and Santa Monica Boulevard at 10:05 am after a report of a fight had been called in to the police headquarters.

Upon arrival the officers were contacted by a witness who pointed towards a man and a woman who appeared to be embroiled in an argument, or at the very least a heated discussion.

The officers approached the couple and separated them.

The officers looked at the individuals and noticed that the female half appeared to be suffering from some recently sustained facial injuries.

The officers spoke with the woman and she said that the man (her “boyfriend”) had slapped her in the face.

Based upon this evidence the officers arrested the man, aged 22, and he was taken to jail before being charged with domestic violence. Bail was set at $50,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
