Freeze Warning In Effect For Southland:

Latest weather news.

A freeze warning was in effect in a wide area of the Southland this morning.

The frigid temperatures are the result of a cold air mass over the region, along with clear skies and light winds, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a freeze warning effective until 9 a.m. in the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area and the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and San Gabriel valleys.

A freeze warning indicates an expectation of temperatures between 29 and 32 degrees Fahrenheit for two or more consecutive hours.

“Freezing temperatures can kill crops and sensitive vegetation and harm outdoor pets and livestock,” warned an NWS statement.
