“Extinction” Photography Exhibit Opens At EarthWE Gallery At Bergamot Station:

EarthWE Gallery opened a new exhibition Friday featuring fine art photographer John Reiff Williams, who brings to life ‘trash’ from the beach collected by environmental educator Peter Kreitler.

The exhibit features fine art photographic images of trash collected off Santa Monica Beach over a 90 day period.

“Extinction” follows last year’s highly successful “NO ES BASURA” exhibition at EarthWE Gallery with 35 color photographs matched to commentary from scientists about the potential for human caused mass extinction.

Williams’ artistic mastery is matched by his technical expertise as evident in the incredible clarity of the 2 x 3 photo images. “Extinction” is a continuation of the narrative established with the first installment of a three part series. The human’s tendency to ‘trash’ their own nest is evident in the found objects from two sections of the country. Cape Cod and Santa Monica/Pacific Palisades beaches have yielded the objects that Williams has turned into fine art.

EarthWE Gallery is located at Bergamot Station, 2525 Michigan Ave., close to the Santa Monica Museum of Art and diagonally across from the Turner Gallery. This exhibit welcomes and encourages families to attend because the subject matter leads to interesting family discussions.

“Extinction” will run through May 30. For more information, visit earthwe.com.
