Resident Sparks Impromptu Beach Clean-Up:

Bothered by the quantity of litter on the beach, resident Grant Barbaito asked 10 friends to each ask 10 other friends to meet at Rose Avenue, the dividing line between Santa Monica and Venice, and Ocean Front Walk on Sunday at 10 a.m. to sweep the beach clean in both directions.

At the appointed hour, 160 people, including 100 students from Fairfax High, showed up, as did a school of dolphins.Heal the Bay and Baykeeper donated the cleaning materials.
