PCH To Close Intermittently Wednesday, Thursday For Rock Slide Netting Installation:

Latest Malibu news.

Pacific Coast Highway will be closed intermittently on Wednesday and Thursday west of Malibu so crews can install netting to help prevent rocks from sliding onto the roadway, authorities said today.

The closures will occur at various times between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. each day from the area of Las Posas Road to La Jolla Canyon in Point Mugu State Park, Caltrans reported.

Motorists and cyclists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes. Signs will be posted.

A helicopter will assist crews installing the rock netting, which is needed because of steep slopes along the highway, Caltrans reported.

The netting will help prevent rocks from falling from the slopes onto the highway. The natural erosion in the area was made worse by the Springs Fire in May 2013.
