Thieves Arrested For Trying To Steal Liquor From Santa Monica Pier Restaurant: Alert Police Blotter: Underdressed For The Job.

Latest police, crime and courts news.

Two out-of-state thieves were arrested on Tuesday, July 7, after trying to steal bottles of liquor from a restaurant on the Santa Monica Pier.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were requested to investigate a possible burglary incident at a restaurant at 5:45 am located on the Santa Monica Pier.

The officers arrived at the scene and upon entering the food preparation area the officers noticed that there was a man arguing strenuously with two other men.

The officers then discovered that the man was the manager and that the two other men were the suspects.

The officers then began investigating further and after speaking with a witness they discovered that the two men had entered the kitchen and had initially been mistaken for being vendors, but when the staff members had noticed that the two men were barefoot and bereft of pants, the matter was brought to the attention of the manager.

The manager had apparently confronted these two men and while doing so he had noticed that the two men were carrying bottles of liquor evidently purloined from the restaurant.

The manager told the officers that the two pantless men had claimed that they simply looking for the exit because they were waiting for a cab.

The officers arrested these shoeless and pantless men, one aged 25 and a resident of some part of North Carolina and the other, aged 23 from Tennessee and they were both charged with commercial burglary.

Bail for each was set at $20,000.
