Warm, Humid & Possibly Stormy Day Forecast For Today:

Another warm, humid and possibly stormy day was forecast for today in Southern California, according to the National Weather Service.

The same unstable conditions attributed to Tropical Storm Dolores were expected to linger, keeping the humidity high with potential for showers, thunderstorms, flash flooding and debris flows, weather service officials said.

The chance of rain was about 30 percent throughout most of the South Coast Basin. The chance for precipitation in the Los Angeles area will average 30 percent much of today, diminishing to 20 percent by tonight, forecasters said.

Temperatures were in the 70s early today across the Southland, the mid- 70s in Los Angles, with relative humidity of 71 percent. Palmdale had light rain and 97 percent humidity. Pasadena had 88 percent humidity and Santa Monica had 87 percent.

The tropical airmass was forecast to move its scattered showers and thunderstorms to the east late today into Tuesday leading to less humidity by midweek and temperatures around 80 in Los Angeles, forecasters said.     A severe storm Sunday caused the collapse of an eastbound overpass of Interstate 10 at Tex Wash in Desert Center east of Palm Springs Sunday afternoon and undermined the westbound section, shutting down the freeway and jamming traffic in both directions as motorists were detoured around the break.

Caltrans said the I-10 in the area will be closed an indefinite time for repairs and suggested detours such as Arizona Route 95 to Interstate 40 or Interstate 8 to  State Route 111 to Route 86.

The rain caused drywall to collapse at the Casa del Sol Apartments in Huntington Beach where tarps on roofs of two buildings being replaced could not keep out the water, leaving 32 units uninhabitable, said Huntington Beach Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Lopez.

The California Highway Patrol reported 63 crashes on Los Angeles area freeways and roads between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday compared with 41 during the same hours the Sunday before.
