Officers who were on routine patrol in the City of Santa Monica spotted a man in an alley behind the 700 block of Olympic Dr. who appeared to be in possession of multiple bicycles as well as numerous bicycle parts on September 9.
The officers, finding this situation somewhat suspicious, decided to stop and question this individual.
The man was not able to explain why he was there and why he was in possession of so many bicycles and bicycle parts so the officers detained him so that they could investigate further.
The officers searched the man and discovered that he was also in possession of several tools that the officers recognized as being of the kind that thieves often use to defeat bicycle locks so, given the totality of the circumstances the officers arrested this 65-year-old homeless man for possession of stolen property and burglary tools.
Bail was set at $20,000
