The Alliance for Survival peace group based in Santa Monica is offering a free ‘No Toy Guns Merit Award’ for children and families who pledge to not buy toy guns or who return any toy gun gifts they might have had second thoughts about giving or getting during the holiday season of peace.
This unique peace education merit award project is ongoing and is meant, especially during the holiday toy giving season, to remind parents that peace begins in the playpen and guns are not toys.
Peace activist and project coordinator Jerry Rubin says, ” We are discouraging any toy guns, especially realistic looking toy guns, and we are encouraging parents to instead buy toys that promote creativity and cooperative play.”
