John Stephan, senior vice president of Union Bank of California, presented a $25,000 check on Friday to Dan Weinberg, President of the Velo Club Lagrange and the family of Scott Bleifert to inaugurate the Scott Bleifert Scholarship Fund. Bleifert, 41, a Santa Monica resident and a Union Bank employee, was hit and killed by a truck while cycling on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu in September.An active member of the Club, he was training for the Arthritis Foundation’s Amgen California Coast Classic when he was killed. The check presentation took place at Union Bank’s Beverly Hills branch.
