LA County Supervisors and Health Department leaders will hold a press conference to alert the public as well as state and national elected officials of the devastating impact on LA County residents if Congress passes the Republican health care plan.
The conference was held at the Grand Park steps at the Hall of Administration. (On the south side of Hall of Administration facing Grand Park. To access from within the Hall of Administration, go to 2nd floor & exit near Sheriff’s station) on Tuesday, June 27 at 8:45 am.
1 out of 20 Medicaid recipients nationwide lives in LA County. If the Republican health care plan passes, 1.2 million men and women in LA County will lose their insurance, and an additional 323,000 people will lose the subsidy that has enabled them to pay for their health insurance. As the Republican plan as proposed is implemented over time, an estimated 4 million men, women and children, or nearly 40% of the residents of LA County, including 1.1 million children under the age of 19, will be at risk of losing their health insurance and/or will have much greater difficulty accessing vital health care services.
