McKeown Seeks Third Term as Santa Monica Councilmember:

Councilmember Kevin McKeown has announced his candidacy for re-election.

Those supporting McKeown’s reelection bid include Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, State Senator Sheila Kuehl, Assemblymember Fran Pavley and former Santa Monica Mayor Denny Zane.

“A third term was not an automatic decision for me,” McKeown told the Mirror exclusively.  “This is the most challenging job I’ve taken on in my life, outside of parenting.  It is also, outside of parenting, the most rewarding.

I wouldn’t settle for retaining a seat just to coast.  I’ll put as much of myself into this third term as I did into the first two.  I’ll continue to be an activist Councilmember in close touch with neighborhoods and residents, and I remain passionate about Santa Monica’s people, history and future.”

Earlier this year McKeown traveled to Denver to represent Santa Monica at a national summit on homelessness.

State Senator Sheila Kuehl, an ally on youth violence concerns, has endorsed McKeown, saying, “Kevin has been consistently committed and effective on issues in Santa Monica regarding quality of life and social justice. I live in Santa Monica, and I’m voting for Kevin.”
