SM Chamber’s Laurel Rosen, St. Monica’s Pastor Alejandro to be Honored Thursday for Homeless Efforts

West Coast Care’s fundraiser Septembre 19

By Staff Writer

“Getting the Homeless Home” is the mission of West Coast Care. Since 2006, the Santa Monica-based organization has employed a unique hands-on, street-savvy approach to providing services to the homeless.  Through daily intervention, using an extended range of services and resources, the organization’s staff have helped thousands of homeless people reunite with family, move into permanent housing and find opportunities for a path to success.

“We’ve found that repairing broken relationships is the key to sustained long-term recovery. Our top priority is the reunification of homeless individuals with their families and close friends – rebuilding these essential support systems and equipping people for the journey back home. We get the homeless home” said Ron Hooks of West Coast Care.

The impact West Coast Care has on the community is immeasurable.  But they can’t do it alone. The fundraiser for the organization will be September 19, 2019 at the Jonathan Club/Beach Club, 850 Palisades Beach Road, Santa Monica, California.  The evening’s honorees are Laurel Rosen, President/CEO of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and Delis Alejandro, Pastoral Associate of St. Monica’s Church.

“I have always felt that supporting agencies that work with our most vulnerable populations is everyone’s responsibility and I have been dedicated to this mission for over 25 years.  Everyday West Coast Care is making a positive difference in the lives of the homeless and getting them home to their families. I am humbled and grateful that West Coast Care and Jonathan Beach Club are honoring me with this special award,” said Laurel Rosen.

Delis Alejandro also commented, “I am so honored to be receiving this recognition from those who know exactly what it means to work face-to- face, and one-on-one with others challenged by homelessness and poverty in our community.”

The evening will include a live auction, entertainment and a delicious dinner provided by the Jonathan Club/Beach Club.  For more information and reservations call 1-877-JC-Clubs ext. 1 or visit www.jc.org

To support the good work of West Coast Care, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce (www.smchamber.com)  and the Rotary Club of Santa Monica (www.rotaryclubofsantamonica.org) are asking members to donate much needed toiletries that will be sorted, packaged and donated to the homeless community.
